Gmail outage: postmortem report

Blow after blow for google. First marking the whole web as malicious & now gmail outage. I remember this quote from a movie: “You find out how much you love some one, only when you loose them”. I experienced this in both cases – unavailability of google search & gmail outage. Finally they have found what triggered the very news making outage. The root cause of the problem was a software bug that caused an unexpected service disruption during the course of a routine maintenance event. What happens to the 99.9% SLA for Google Apps? Well the subscribers get a 15 day extension of the service as a compensation. Not bad Google!
